A lesson plan for a teacher needs to be concise and precise, and must focus on what the student is expected to learn and grasp. The material has to be understood, first by the teacher, and then it has to be delivered to the student, in a manner that he will understand in a limited time frame. But it is not just about cramming the material into schedule and ramming it into the student’s head. A mind map may be just the thing you are looking for increasing the efficiency of your lesson plan.

Mind Mapping Lessons

For a teacher, it is important to fit the lesson into the stipulated time frame. But how do you map the lesson plan which would be efficient and easy to understand and attains the final goal? Break down your lesson into the following.

• Objective: Upon mapping your lesson, the objective of the lesson becomes the central idea and what you expect the student to learn by the end of the lesson becomes the goal. There may be a set of goals and each goal would have an objective as a central idea.

• Tasks: Create tasks for each of the objective that will gradually lead to the final goal.

• Prerequisites: Each goal and its objective require briefs before being introduced in the course of the lesson. The prerequisites should be well knitted and interrelated to the different topics that are being presented, ensuring continuity.

• Resources: Identify the resources and material that was used to produce the lesson and the material, for the benefit of the student.

• Notes: The lesson plan is not just the reference for the teacher. It should be easily readable and should have the clarity. Notes and footnotes are extremely useful when the material is to be used by another person.

Delivering Lessons using Mind Maps

Using a mind map introduces continuation and generates interest amongst the students and the participants. A mind mapper is bound to be more focused on the content and is clearer on the deliverable. There are many mind mapping software programs also available these days which make good student materials as well.

Modernize the way your classroom sessions are held. Make them more interesting with your well devised mind maps.

Great tips! Also, i think this can be helpful if applied in other ways as well (like when I am studying or preparing a presentation). Good job!
