Is it possible to use mind mapping for improving creative thinking? The answer is a resounding “Yes”. Creative thinking is often characterized by images and other visual mediums and mind maps use the same tools to improve your decision making capabilities. You would be able to come up with a lot more ideas when you use these tools for creative thinking.
Top 3 Steps To Improve Creative Thinking Using Mind Mapping Techniques
- Associate an image to the main idea and place it at the center and start linking any ideas that come to your mind. You should not be thinking about the relevance of ideas during the initial stages. There should be a free flow of ideas and this will help you come up with many options. You can also choose to take a break and come up with fresh ideas. When you have more options you would be able to choose the best that will fulfill all your requirements.
- After you have out down all your thoughts and ideas on paper, you can sort them as per their relevance. There could be certain ideas that could look irrelevant to the main idea but once you start streamlining the process, you would be able to understand its relevance to the main idea.
- This is the stage where you would have streamlined all your ideas in a systematic way. You would also be able to make suitable revisions so that you are able to integrate everything perfectly as one single plan.
There are many mind mapping software tools that will be able to accomplish all these tasks faster. It is important to choose tools that best suit your specific requirements. You will be able to come up with new and innovative ideas that will help you to think of creative ways to accomplish a task or find solutions to problems.
You would be able to get a clear view of what you want to accomplish when you start using mind maps. You would be able to gain an entirely new perspective of doing things on a daily basis. It will also improve your efficiency and productivity leading to greater individual satisfaction.

I love to mind map. I used this tool recently to come up with articles to write during a "30 articles in 30 days" challenge. I've tried mind mapping software, but I much prefer to do it by hand with paper and pencil. Great note-taking video. Rated up and interesting.
