The SWOT analysis is a business planning strategy to determine the company’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats against any possible competitor in the same market. If you decided to use the idea mapping or the mind map software, this will really fit in this particular information. This will also allow you to identify the connections between different pieces of information.

Any businessmen can make use of the maps to present the SWOT to his boss. It is not the usual presentation but they will see the efforts you made for your project strategic planning. You can also explain clearly to them without getting caught in the middle or stammering in front of them. Here are the five steps of on how you can use the mind maps for the SWOT analysis.

  • Place in the center of your map the four aspects of inquiry – the strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats. This will be your main theme or central idea.
  • The items describing the current situation of your company or organization must be listed in the secondary topics. If there are still more notes that you want to include in your mapping, you can set them aside first and then locate which aspect it perfectly fits.
  • Once you are done determining secondary topics, you have to flesh out every part of the map so that you will end up rumbling the thoughts from each of the aspect in SWOT. You can make your SWOT presentation stand out by using different shapes and back grounding. There are lots of styles and designs that you can choose from in the mind map software that you are using.
  • You can also use the call out topics. This is proven to draw attention from your listener and the emphasis from each of the related topics. This will also create a relationship for each of the topics and subtopics to use.
  • Supporting data is very important. You can value in these items and you can incorporate it in your map so that you can provide comprehensive and exact information predicting and depicting the factors that can contribute and help in your business endeavor.
